Hot-air balloon flights of your dreams
Experience a hot-air balloon ride over Helsinki or peaceful countryside. Aerohot organizes hot-air balloon flights in Helsinki, Lapland and elsewhere in Finland. The flight season starts at the beginning of May and continues until early October. During the season balloon flights are arranged when the weather allows this. In the winter we fly at Levi, a winter sport resort in Lapland. We also organize sunrise flights for groups (minimum 4 persons).
Along the wind
A hot-air balloon flight is an exciting as well as romantic and peaceful way of admiring the scenery. We fly along the wind at the height of approximately 1,000 feet. During the years our customers have varied from from a 85 years old grandmother to a child celebrating the start of school, from bachelor parties and company happenings to birthday parties and family occasions. Also an engagement and a wedding have been arranged in our balloon.
Champagne!
The flight takes about an hour after which we land and have a picnic. As part of the picnic we organize a christening with champagne and give all participants - according to the ballooning traditions - an honorary title and a diploma. After the picnic the participants are taken back to the meeting-place.
When and where?
First we meet at Kaivopuisto (at Malmi, if the wind is northern) about 4 hours prior to sunset. There are various takeoff sites. At the meeting-place the pilot selects one using the re-checked wind direction and the weather forecast he has received from the meteorologists. Then the participants are transported to the chosen takeoff site by car. The participants are also taken from the landing-site back to the meeting-place by car when the flight is over.
What to wear for the flight?
Wear casual and comfortable clothes that suit the weather. The temperature at the flight height (1,000 feet) is not colder than it is on the ground. As the balloon moves at wind speed, you cannot feel the blow in the basket. Wear sneakers. Remember to bring a camera and/or binoculars.
Travelling safe
According to statistics, hot-air ballooning is the safest way of flying. Our equipment, which is regularly checked by CAA Finland (the Finnish aviation safety authority) is new and up-to-date. We also fly the largest balloon in Finland (with the volume of 300,000 cubic feet). Our Austrian pilot Hartmann Abendstein is one of the most skilled hot-air balloon pilots on Finland. He is trained commercial pilot with years of ballooning experience.
What is included? • About 1 hour flight (entire trip takes 4-5 hours) • Transportation from the meeting place to the take-off site and back • Traditional champagne ceremony after the flight • Picnic (homemade bread, cheese, coffee, tea and cookies). • Diploma • Flight insurance
All flights are payed in advance, reservations are necessary to make sure you get the date of choice. For more details on how to pay and scheduling your flight, please contact us! A balloon flight is also a perfect gift. If you want to surprise someone, or just want to give a gift, ask for our gift certificates.
