Events at Zodiak — Center for New Dance 20.3.2010 - 3.6.2010
••• 20.–27.3.2010 Kaatuva maa (Falling Land)
Two joint pieces by choreographer Petri Kekoni and composer Olli Koskelin as a small festival invite us to meditate upon the power of contemporary dance in an ever-accelerating world. The live string music and movement in the pieces grew in the spirit of Cunningham-Cage, tuned to breathe together and separately.
Falling Land (2001) exudes the power and fury of nature, carried on by the wave of sound created by the Avanti! string quartet. An impacting piece about one kind of an environmental catastrophe, realized in architectural, almost mathematically precise movement. Choreography: Petri Kekoni Dance: Maija Kiviluoto, Terhi Vaimala, Eero Vesterinen, Teemu Kyytinen, Gabriela Aldana-Kekoni String quartet: Avanti!
