Calendar Event Description |
On the day after "Penkkarit" (high school seniors official last school day), it is the 2nd year high school students turn for celebration, as they have now become the new "School Seniors". This celebration takes the form of a "New School Seniors Ball" (dance / prom) and is called "Vanhojen tanssit - The dances of the old". The "Vanhojen tanssit" is the highlight of the year for second year students who have been practicing various dances from "Polonaise" to "Viennese Waltz", since the 1st year of high school. Boys attending the ball are dressed in formal attire and girls, who have been planning their "evening look" and hairstyles, well in advance, wear full-length evening gowns or dresses. The Ball normally takes place in the high school's gymnastic hall, and parents and relatives are also invited to attend the ball.
